The cute of being a geek mom...
Not only the fact of happily wait for Halloween to dress up your kids as your favorite Star Wars characters or to teach them to said the ABC in a geeky way such A is for Atom to Z is for Zombie, but to be able to share with them your geek toys, cause, let's face it! We have tons of gadgets and KIDS love them.
I spent so much money in classic toys for my son, just to find out he rather wanted to play with my iPhone (since his 8th month up to now 2 years and 3 months) and now he loves my iPad, so yes I do download a lot of kids applications (But he prefers Angry Birds or Zombigotchi) and well of course I don't want my son to be into gadgets all day (and he won't spend more than 2 hrs playing with them anyways) he likes the outdoors... and what to do? Well I got for him a marshmallow gun! YES and he is CRAZY about it and yes it's not a toy for a 2 years old but he is a very bright kid and we teach him how to be careful and we are always near to him... another cool toy (that even I enjoy) are the Star Wars laser swords, these swords have a motion sensor, so when ever you move the sword totally makes you feel like a Jedi!!!..I mean, makes your kid a handsome or gorgeous padawan, plus it's awesome to play around with your little ones and teach them some Force techniques!
And well kids deserve and must have fun, you don't have to engaged them into only educational toys, I noticed that many of today's moms want them to become future nerds!... Yes I want the same too, but they're not robots! I love spending fun time with my lil one and play around with him, and for your information, he knows the main colors, he can tell you the parts of his body, he knows the numbers from 1 to 10 (Spanish and a lil bit in English) and he is learning the Star Wars ABC... how did we (my family and myself) do that? Just PLAYING with him and not pushing him to be seat and repeating, repeating and repeating....
